About me

My name is Malcolm Gunson. I grew up in Cranbrook, British Columbia and have been living in Alberta for over 30 years. I took wood shop in Jr High and enjoyed it but I never really used the skill until working for the town of High Level where one of my jobs was to refinish the town sign. By the time I repaired and refinished the sign, my passion for wood returned. Since that time I have enjoyed working with wood, making signs, pens, and now rings.

Often when we go camping, I sit around the fire and work on carvings. Occasionally I find some good pieces of driftwood that became the inspiration for my next project. As one craft leads to another, I got into engraving of glass, eggs, metal, and wood as a piece I bought for carving can also work for engraving. I have started down the road of working with resins in both my ring and pen projects; the possibilities are endless with them.

I can custom make rings and pens out of wood and resin, or a combination of them. I can inlay any material in to them and can make wood signs from house size up. I am also able to do custom engraving on wood, metal, and glass.
